Collection: Q & A
- Will you have storm-water retention, septic, well and fire retention plans? Absolutely. All of these critical items are strictly regulated and will be fully vetted, reviewed, properly permitted and regulated. The Civil Engineer designs all of these systems with heavily regulated guidance from the appropriate agencies and contractors. Those details get finalized at the next stage of this process, which is the Development Review Committee. This project has been over a year in the works and has been an extremely eye-opening and lengthy process with multiple agencies and strenuous steps involved. There has been a tremendous amount of work that has gone into and will continue to go into this project to make it a safe, eco-friendly resort.
- Will you have quiet hours? Yes. There are noise ordinances in place, but I will also have quiet hours for the property that will be as strict, if not stricter, than the county ordinance of 10pm on weeknights and 11pm on weekends. We are a family-friendly campground and want to be respectful of guests and the community.
- What do you have planned for security? Safety is of the upmost importance for not only my guests, but the community. The entrance for the trail will be closed and locked in the evening. In addition, there will be gated access at the front of the property that will be locked during evening hours. An employee will always be onsite. I have already had several conversations with retired law enforcement for evening shifts.
- Are you building this and leaving? No. I am the owner-operator. I will be engaged and active in the business. I do have a home in Putnam County, so I will not be living here full-time, as it is not feasible for one person to be here 24/7. Key employees from the local area are part of that plan. This is my baby, and I have zero intentions of deserting it.
- Are you a long-term campground? No. County law requires 90 days or less.
- How will you maintain a nice property that the community will be proud of? In keeping with the agricultural character in the area, exemptions have been requested to keep the property in its most natural state. The entire design is based on the topography, trees, and local wildlife. There will be regulations around the age of RVs that will be onsite, as well as guidelines for pets. The glamping structures that are being chosen are beautiful and will complement the natural environment. The RV sites are larger than standard sites, to give ample space and there are additional requirements that will be met or exceeded to buffer around the property.
- What is your LLC name and is it a non-profit? Furever Rescued is the LLC. I have not launched that business yet (coming very soon), as I have been incredibly busy working on the Bristol Oaks plan. It is not a non-profit, but it was created with the philanthropy of giving back to animal rescues. A percentage of the proceeds will go to animal rescue groups and will also be host to regularly scheduled events to help get dogs adopted in the community. Furever Rescued has also adopted a Compassion International Child through the Church of Eleven22. I am excited to see how this brand will grow upon launch!
- How can I support your project? 1) If you are a local business, animal rescue group, musician, artist, or someone that has ideas or would like to be engaged, please shoot me an email (info@BristolOaksFL.com). We are a long way from being at the point of opening, but I would love to speak with you. 2) Feel free to attend the final rezoning hearing on 11/14 at 9am at 2509 Crill Ave in Palatka. You are welcome to speak for Bristol Oaks, just as much as people who want to speak against it. 3) Feel free to send an email with your name and address to the below email addresses expressing your support for Bristol Oaks in our community and why you feel it will be good: zachary.baker@putnam-fl.gov, bryan.helms@putnam-fl.gov, larry.harvey@putnam-fl.gov, leota.wilkinson@putnam-fl.gov, terry.turner@putnam-fl.gov, paul.adamczyk@putnam-fl.gov, bill.pickens@putnam-fl.gov
