🦙 Meet our Alpaca and Llama

Welcome to the newest friends at Bristol Oaks! Our Suri alpaca and llama duo bring their own special personalities to the farm, and guests love meeting them up close.

🦙 Chewy – The Suri Alpaca

Chewy is a gentle Suri Alpaca, known for his long, silky fleece that hangs in beautiful locks.

  • He’s a trained professional when it comes to meeting people.

  • With plenty of experience at petting zoos and events, Chewy knows exactly how to make visitors feel comfortable.

  • Calm, patient, and friendly, he enjoys attention and is a perfect ambassador for his species.

Fun fact: Suri alpacas are one of two alpaca types (the other is Huacaya) and make up only about 10% of the world’s alpaca population. Their fiber is highly prized for softness and sheen.

🍼 Hans Solo – The Baby Llama

Hans Solo may be little, but he’s already winning hearts.

  • As a baby llama (called a cria), he’s just learning about people, sounds, and the farm world around him.

  • He often sticks close to Chewy, watching and mimicking, while slowly building his confidence.

  • Hans Solo is curious and playful, but still discovering what it means to be part of the farm family.

Fun fact: Llamas are naturally protective and often act as guardians for herds. One day Hans Solo may grow into that role, but for now he’s still all about learning and playing.

🌟 Why Alpacas & Llamas Are Special

  • Both alpacas and llamas are members of the camelid family, related to camels.

  • They communicate through gentle humming sounds and body language.

  • Both are herbivores and enjoy grazing in open pastures.

  • Alpacas are bred for fiber, while llamas are known for their strength and as pack animals.
